How Does take Me Too Work?

Take Me Too! is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund, as part of their Wales Rural Programme. It is completely free to sign up to Take Me Too! There is no charge to post a journey request and no limit on the number of journeys you can organise through Take Me Too!

The first step to using Take Me Too! as a driver or a passenger, is to sign up.   It’s free and easy to do!

We need to collect a few details so that we have the information we need to help with the journey matching process. 

We offer a quick-start route, where we collect the bare minimum of information we need.  When you have a chance, we also recommend that you complete your Profile page, to share a little more information about yourself with potential travel partners and to help us better target the matching process.

If you are a driver, we will need to complete a couple of checks on your driving licence and vehicle MOT/Road Tax status before we can confirm your registration.

Once you have completed the Sign Up process, you are ready to go!

If you need a lift, or would like to share transport for a journey, you can post a journey request, which will include information about where and when you want to travel, and any special requirements that you may have.  Journey requests can be to anywhere, at any time, and for any reason, as long as they start or end in Pembrokeshire.  If you are going to a show, sports match, event or other popular destination, it is helpful to put that in the journey request to find a Driver who is going there too.  

We will send the request out to all the drivers who we think may be able to help.  Drivers will receive a simple message alert by text message or email or phone (depending on their preference).  You can also see all the current Journey Requests on our website.   If they are going that way, and are happy to help, they simply respond to our message.

We will contact the person who requested the journey to let them know that someone has offered a lift. If you both agree, we will put you in touch with each other and you can make arrangements for the journey together. 

Although Take Me Too! is a free service to sign up and use, we do expect passengers to make a contribution to their driver towards the cost of each journey they make.  Arrangements for this payment should be made directly between the passenger and their driver.  Money can be an awkward topic, so as the passenger, please remember to offer to pay the suggested amount before being asked. Take Me Too! will send you both a suggested amount, based on the journey mileage, so everyone is clear before the lift takes place. 

The suggested amount is calculated at 20p per mile for the mileage that you share, and 45p per mile for any additional mileage if the driver has to go out of their way to pick up or drop off their passenger.

After you have completed a journey, we will invite both the passenger and the driver to leave a review about their travel partner.  The reviews left for every registered user can be viewed on their profile page, and will help give others confidence to travel with them in the future. 

In the unlikely event that you have a serious concern or complain about your travel partner, please contact us directly.  We will suspend their access to Take Me Too! while we investigate.

On rare occasions, lift-sharing arrangements may fall through.  We don’t want any passengers to be stranded if they, or their driver, needs to leave early due to an unexpected emergency. 

In the first instance, you should always talk to your travelling partner to explain the situation.  In a genuine emergency, many people will be happy to adjust their plans.

If you are stranded with no other means to get home, Take Me Too! has linked up with local taxi firms to offer a free Emergency Ride Home.
